St Nectan's Kieve, Cornwall, UK. Returning after almost a years absence.

You have chosen a beautiful subject and done a very nice job with it technically. You used the long shutter speed and I assume a tripod to get that flowing look to the water. There is detail in the shadowed rocks, which can be tricky to do with digital exposure. I applaud your effort by lugging the right equipment to a great location.
If it were my shot, I'm not sure I would have centered it quite so thoroughly. Compositionally, I've been trained to think about the rule of thirds, and to place the main subject off-center for more interest. The diagonal line of the rock projection saves this from being too static, but I'd like to see it cropped some on the left side. My humble opinion only.

I can just agree overall a very nice work! Good that you are back ;)

kkart is quite correct to push out the green a bit more. the rest is great as it is.

I just have some more thoughts about the composition. I would have give it a try to move the camera more to the right to gain more of the very nice green stones, because on the left side of the image isnt sth more of interest. This emptiness disturbs me a bit + this part of the tree there up. Just some of my thoughts about the composition. I guess with post processing work there is no chance to achieve my thoughts.

Anyway a very well exposed shot! Congratulations! ;)

I really like this image. I agree with both of the critiques you received.

IF you were going to edit this image, I would simply overexpose the RAW file by +1EV and HDR the 2 exposures. That way you get more details in the bottom left shadows, and it would also make the greens pop vs. saturating them.

but my very first thought when it popped on my screen was, "damn I was this was mine!"

Thanks for the comment and compliment. I have not ventured into the realms of HDR but I feel I will have to have a play around with it one day soon. Thank you. :)

you can do HDR in photoshop, but I use Photomatix Pro 3.0
